ARTEFACTS

We will visit museums to study, record and weigh all objects found in burial contexts. These will include all types of material including metal, ceramics, bone, glass, and organic material.

The objects will include jewelry, weaponry, pottery vessels, and costumes.

We will consider the raw material from which they were made, the decoration and style, and wear caused by use.

This will help us understand access to local resources and exotic imports, and tell us about wealth and status, gender, age and mobility.
